We have an absolutely gorgeous selection of cars for you this week, and more are arriving as we speak. Please call us with your specific requirements, and we will find your dream car if we do not have it in stock. Dealing in collectable type vehicles can be tricky at the best of times, usually because attachments are formed which are very hard to break. The biggest hurdle, however, is the sensitive issue of price. The normal practice for owners of collectable cars, when ascertaining what they will accept for their car, is to look for similar examples for sale in the UK, then convert it to ZAR, and there we are. At 17 to one, not considering all the expenses in getting it to the UK, they were doing mighty fine. It created an altogether unrealistic set of values unique to SA. I would even be so bold as to say that we achieved some world record prices for certain classics. Now that we are hovering around the 12 to one mark, the prices are beginning to look sensible, except for the fact that the typical owner is still in 17 to one mode !!!. Anyone who has purchased a classic in the last few years will have to keep it a little while longer before offering it on the market again, or accept the very values that they forced the dealers to accept in the past. In spite of the above, I am always looking for good quality cars, and will buy any Executive type vehicle that is no newer than 1996. Look, the banks still try to give me a hard time when financing them, but I have always been up for an arguament. |
